\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\tIt is with great sadness that we have learned Bob Stainthorp passed away on the 18th October.

Bob was a former Hull Paragon engine driver and one of the first volunteers to be involved with Humberside Locomotive Preservation Group, which would later become 5305 Locomotive Trust.

Anyone who wishes to pay there respects to him, the funeral is to be held at Chanterlands Avenue Crematorium large chapel on Monday 9th November at 10.30 and afterwards at Hull YPI Centre.

Bobs family have asked that any donations be made to the 5305 Locomotive Trust, for which we are very grateful.

\n\t\t\t\t\n\t\t30777 Sir Lamiel Overhaul Update

Work has continued to progress the overhaul on Sir Lamiel over the last couple of months.

Work continues to focus on overhauling the rear tender bogie, so that the tender can be completed and painted ready to pair with the loco. The bogie has been stripped, needle-gunned and repainted, with the wheelsets await tyre and journal turning before re-assembling to the bogie. We are also currently cleaning the inside of the tender tank and this will be have special protective paint applied.

Work is progressing on 777's boiler and we have contracted GCR shed works (loughborough) to fit the firebar carrier brackets and new foundation ring rivets. New bottle ends have been ordered and these will be welded to the existing super heater element tubes. Following welding, they will be tested and readied for installing in the boiler once the flue tubes have been fitted. There is still some minor work to complete to replace the front 6 rows of crown stays on the firebox.

New cylinder liners have been manufactured and these waiting in store ready to be installed. New wood for the cab floor has also been acquired and this will be fitted during the locomotives re-assembly. The frames will need to be lifted in order for the engineering team to check the axle boxes, before re-assembly of the valve gear can begin.
